Here’s a math challenge for you – what do you get when you combine 800 excited kids and a world-class stage? The answer – a fantastic day of music making for Mesa Public School students and the singers of the Chorale.

In 2010, Jeff Harris approached the arts directors of Mesa Public Schools and the Mesa Arts Center with the idea of hosting a choral festival to both showcase and hone the talents of young singers. Since that year, high school and junior high choirs have enjoyed this annual opportunity to sing on the stage of the Ikeda Theater for professional adjudicators as well as their peers in the Mesa Public Schools Secondary Choral Festival. The Chorale has continued to support the event through funding, site volunteers, as well as a free performance for the students and their families.

This year’s festival in October was a delight. Kudos to the dedicated teachers who inspire their singers everyday, to Mesa Public Schools which supports music in our schools, and to the Mesa Arts Center for providing a welcoming venue to singers young and old.
